Agnes L. Welch, longtime resident of Barrington, died Tuesday, July 19, in St. Joseph's Hospital, Elgin. She was born Jan. 30, 1899 in Mackinaw, Ill.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. today (Thursday) at Stirlen-Pieper Funeral Home. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington. The Rev. Kenneth Truckenbrod will officiate.
Miss Welch was a teacher in Barrington schools from 1923 until her retirement in 1968. Known primarily as an elementary school teacher, she also taught at the high school level when Barrington High School met on the second floor of Hough Street School.
She is survived by a brother, George Welch, of Chillicothe, Ill. and sister, Margaret Alberta Bell, of Akron, Ohio. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, Katherine and James Welch, and four brothers.
Memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, Barrington Area Library or the charity of one's choice.
