Fred C. Mathews Sr., 95, passed away Monday, April 11, 2011 at Woodview Health Care Center. Born in Brookville, IN, Fred worked as a driver with Interstate Motor Freight for 21 years, retiring in 1975. He was an US Army WWII Veteran that received the Purple Heart and member of Waynedale Lodge #739 F&AM, Scottish Rite and Mizpah Shrine. Surviving are his wife of 70 years Edna M. Mathews, son, Fred C. (Janet) Mathews Jr. both of Fort Wayne, daughter, Debra J. (Bob) Kendall of Oswego, IL, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Service is 10 am Thursday at D. O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road with calling 1 hour prior. Calling also Wednesday 5 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Entombment in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
