Ramona P. Beland, age 90, a lifelong resident of Dundee Township passed away at 5:10 P.M., Friday, March 7, 2014 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor She was born in Dundee, Michigan January 20, 1924 the daughter of Arnold and Sophia (Gaertner) Boldt. She grew up on the family farm and with her husband and son ran a mink business together. She was baptized, confirmed and married at. St. John Lutheran Church in Dundee. She married Clarence H. (Jack) Beland on May 5, 1946. He passed away April 28, 1995. She is a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Petersburg. During World War II she worked at Monroe Auto Equipment which was the old Purolator Plant in Petersburg. She also had worked at Stahl’s Greenhouse in Petersburg which was owned by her brother in law and sister in law. She is survived by her daughter Lynda Sigle (Barry) of South Bend, Indiana and her son John Beland of Dundee; grandchildren Joshua (Kate) Freier, Amanda (Scott) Ribble, Daniel (Rachael) Howard and Wendy (Clyde) Pasco; great-grandchildren Nathan, Abigail, Clark, Kaitlyn, Jessica, Sophia, Nikolas and Ramona Rose; sister Donna (James) Gerber of Petersburg. She was preceded in death by her husband,her parents, son Mark Beland , daughter Joyce Beland, sister Velma Mae Holtz and grandson Brian. Friends may call on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 from 1 – 8 PM at the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156). She will lie in state on Thursday, March 13, 2014 from 10 AM until 11 AM services at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Petersburg. Officiating will be the Rev. Mark Flory, pastor of the church. Interment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Summerfield Township. Memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 343 E. Center St., Petersburg, MI 49270 or the Home Care Program at St. Joseph Mercy Health System, 3075 Clark Road, Suite 200, Ypsilanti, MI 48197.
