Allen C. Prescott, well-known and a long-time resident of the Sweetgrass Hills area, passed away at Wickenburg, Arizona, on Aprii 2, 1977.

He was born November 4, 1895 to the late Alonzo K. Prescott and Mary Bailey Prescott. After his schooling, Allen managed the extensive ranch holdings of the Prescott ranch. Upon leaving here, he and his wife, Winnie, moved to White Sulphur Springs where he operated his own ranch. When he retired he bought a home on the east shore of Flathead Lake where they lived during the summer months and spent the winter months in Arizona. His wife, Winnie, preceded him in death at Wickenburg, Arizona, several years ago.

Allen's great mechanical ability and interest led him to be one of the pioneers of snowmobiles. His interests also included motorcycles and airplanes. He received instruction in flight from Montana's Earl Vance and became one of Liberty County's first pilots.

Survivors include two brothers, Harold and Robert, and two sisters Katherine Towle and Helen Dietrich. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. One nephew, Gordon Prescott, is well-known locally.

Graveside services will be held in Helena at the Forestvale Cemetery on April 7, at 10:30 a.m.
