My father James Leroy McBrayer was the eldest son of John Young McBrayer and Minnie Marie Womble.

His mother died while he was in his early teens and he and his two brothers, due to their father's alcoholism, were placed with relatives.

He joined the US Army prior to WW II and served his country in the Aleutian Islands and the Phillipines. Following the war he married my mother Norma Johnson on January 23, 1946 in the Mesa LDS Temple.

Into their home they welcomed a daughter, Joan and two sons, David and Carl.

My father's favorite vacation pastime was camping and he also enjoyed making 8mm home movies.

He was a hard worker and a good husband and provider for his family. He understood the value of hard work and was strengthened by his hard times as a youth.

He died of cancer in October of 1973 at age 55. We love you dad.
