Alfred Carl Thurke, 1019 Parker St
Age 54, passed away Feb. 22, 1956 at his residence suddenly of a heart attack. He was born in Wayne, WI., on Jan. 31, 1902 and has lived in Racine for the past 25 years. Mr. Thurke was a Boatman's Mate First Class in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was employed at Eisendrath Tannery for several years. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, William F. Ehrlich Post No. 1391, and Eisendrath's Local No. 77.
Surviving are two sons, Fritz and John Thurke; one daughter, Miss Laura Thurke of West Bend, WI.; three brothers, Alphonse and William Thurke both of Fond du Lac, WI.; Edward Thurke of West Bend, WI; five sisters, Mrs. Caroline Winters, Mrs. Bertha Kissinger and Miss Clara Thurke of Fond du Lac, WI., Mrs. Sylvia Martin and Mrs. Esther Kell, both of Allenton, WI.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 27 at 1:30 p.m. in the Greenwood Funeral Home with Rev. Jerome Miller officiating. Interment will be in World War II Plot in Graceland Cemetery.
