Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 4, at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, and 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with a combined public and Catholic Order of Foresters rosary recited at 2 p.m. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Church, Moline.
Jack was born April 11, 1925, in Moline, the son of Ernest Okie and Adeline Schmiers Strandlund. He married Catherine "Kay" M. Fennelly on Oct. 26, 1946, in Davenport. They just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in October.
Mr. Strandlund served in the Navy in Submarine Division 182 during World War II. He owned and operated Jack's Appliance Stores in Rock Island and Davenport.
Jack was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline, where he served as an acolyte, Catholic Order of Foresters Sacred Heart Court 1691, Svithiod Club, Moline, Moline American Legion Post 246 and 40 and 8 Club. He was a life member of VFW Post 2153, Moline.
Survivors include his wife, Kay; daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Dr. Rob Ohlsen, Geneseo; sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Ernest "Jack" and Debby Strandlund, Phoenix, Ariz., James Strandlund, Moline, Joe and Sherry Strandlund, Milan, and Jerry and Theresa Strandlund, Sherrard; grandchildren, Jenny and Mike Traphagan, Moline, Jason and Amanda Ohlsen, St. Louis, Mo., Ciara and Shaun Hull, Tucson, Ariz., and Laurie and Warren Seynk, Phoenix; and eight great-grandchildren.
