She moved from Illinois with her parents to Page county, Iowa, when she was a child. She was united in marriage to Thomas McGarvety Dougherty at Clarinda, Iowa, on November 4, 1896. To this union two sons were born, Ray L. of Clarinda, and Ralph H. of San Antonio, Texas. In 1902 she moved to New Market, Iowa, with her husband where she resided until 1938 when she moved back to Clarinda. Her husband preceded her in death on October 18, 1927.
She united with the Clarinda Christian church when twelve years of age, and during the years has been active.
She leaves to mourn her death her two sons, two brothers, Leonard P. Hines and A.L. Hines, both of Clarinda, three sisters, Lucile Kuhn of Denver, Colo, Persia Brannen, also of Denver, and Agnes Omer of Brownsville, Texas. Her father, mother, two sisters and one brother have preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held on November 21, at 2 o'clock from the Walker funeral home with Rev Woods of the Church of Christ in charge and interment in Memory cemetery.
Music was furnished by Miss Aletha Hutchings and Mrs Doris Forbes, accompanied by Mrs Lola Reid. Pall bearers were Harold Douthit, Roy Herren, F.J. Rogers, Ralph Pratt, J.G. Handford, and R.M. Tuttle. CLARINDA HERALD JOURNAL, Clarinda, Iowa, Nov 1941
