FORMER WOMAN JUSTICE DIES AT HOME HERE
Mrs. Kate Eva Campbell, 65, one of the few women in California who served in th office of Justice of the peace, passed away Saturday night at her home, 125 S. Jaye Street after a lingering illness.

Mrs. Campbell, a native of Lamar, Mo., came to Porterville with her parents as a child. The family moved to Farmersville, where she lived until seven years ago when she moved to Porterville. While living in Farmersville, she served there as justice of the peace from 1916 to 1918. She was the only woman to serve as justice of the peace in Tulare County.

Surviving Mrs. Campbell are her husband Thomas D. Campbell; a daughter, Mrs. Maryetta Emery, Porterville, a son, Donald Campbell, Inglewood; two brothers, Hector Bingham, Porterville, and John Bingham, Los Angeles, an two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon, at 2 o'clock at the Myers Chapel with the Rev. J.D. Walker of the Church of God officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
