Arthur is the son of Elburton and Elizabeth Jane Rawlings Clonts. He married Grace M. Turner in about 1908. They had two sons:

Arthur, Jr. born March 14, 1910, who married Dorothy Mueller Clonts. Died May 1991.
and
Alpheus Eugene born January 10, 1912, and married Frances Lawson Thurston Clonts. They had one daughter, Marigrace Clonts, born March 19, 1961. He died April 26, 1994 and Frances died Dec. 24, 2000.

His wife, Grace, was taken to a sanitarium in 1916, when she contracted Pulmonary T. B. Her children never saw her again. She died May 20, 1920. She is buried in Osage City Cemetery in Osage City, Kansas next to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.B. Turner, who died a few years before her.
