Arthur H. Abell of New Castle, DE, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at Christiana Hospital.
He was the loving husband of Maria Conceicao (Castilho), to whom he was married for nearly 53 years. Mr. Abell was born in Birdseye, IN to the late Oscar and Cleo N. Abell. He was a graduate of Purdue University and Tri-State University where he earned a degree in Civil Engineering. Upon retiring from Conectiv, he started his own business, Abell Technical Consultants. A proud Air Force veteran, he served during the Korean War in the Bikini Atolls. Mr. Abell was a member of the National Association of Atomic Veterans.
He is survived by his wife, Maria; daughter Dr. Elizabeth Abell, both of New Castle, DE; and by many extended family members in Indiana.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mart Amick, his long-time family physician.
Mass will be at 11 am, Friday, March 5, at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 801 North DuPont Highway, New Castle DE preceded by a viewing at 10 am. Interment will be private.
