ABSHIRE, Mark Abshire, Tuesday June 26, 2007, 1931-2007 . Mark Lee
Abshire, 76, of Denmark Drive, Danville, died Saturday, June 23, 2007, at
Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born Friday, Feb. 20, 1931, in
Norton, Va., he was a son of the late Palmer Lee Abshire and Mable Helena
Boggs Abshire. Mark retired in 1989 from the Denver Police Department.
He also retired after 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, having achieved the
rank of E-6 Tech Sargeant. Mark was a member of the Blue Knights Retired
Police Motorcycle Club. He also frequently participated in charity motorcycle
rides for Blue Knights, Guardian Angels, Project Hope, Doctor's Without
Borders, Special Olympics and Camp Make-A-Dream. Survivors include
his daughters, Kara Dicecco of Bear, Del., and Kelly Garza of Missoula,
Mont.; a brother, Tony (Sharon) Abshire of Talent, Ore.; sisters, Patricia
Carpenter and Jeanine Logan, both of Danville; eight grandchildren; and a
special niece, Valeria (Charlie) McDermott of Danville. Graveside funeral
services will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at Camp Nelson
National Cemetery with Joe Gilliland officiating. Military rites will be
performed by the Color Guard of Wright Patterson Air Force Base.
