Mildred was the third of fourteen children born to William Madison McClure, a farmer, b. Jan. 4, 1858 in Red Rock, Bastrop, TX. and d. Nov. 12, 1933 in Smithville, Bastrop, TX. &
Mary Susan "Molly" McClure, b. Aug. 16, 1860 in Muldoon, Fayette, TX. and d. Feb. 28, 1945 in Comal Co., Texas. According to Ca. Death Records, Mildred's mother's maiden name was Smith.

William & Mollie's children were:

*By the 1910 census, Molly had had 14 children, only 12 of whom were still alive.

*Note: In the 1910 census, Mollie and William were still living together but divorced shortly afterwards. By the 1920 census, Mary (Mollie) was listed as 'widowed' (which was less of a stigma than the title of divorcee) and living with her daughter Sallie/Sadie. Sallie was working as a weaver in a cotton mill.
William M. McClure married second, Lillian 'Lillie' Dale, a woman abt. 33 yrs. his junior, and they had two children. William died 12 Nov 1933 in Smithville, Bastrop Co., TX.

In the 1900 U.S. census, Mildred's future husband, James Riley Wyatt, son of Reuben Houston Wyatt, b. 1854 & Mahala Elizabeth Kelley, b. 1858, was living as a lodger in Austin Ward 9, Travis, Texas and working as a day laborer.

On Sept. 5, 1901, Mildred E. McClure and James Riley Wyatt married in Travis, Texas.

In the 1910 U.S. census, 27 yr. old Millie Wyatt, b. in TX. was living in Los Angeles Assembly District 69, L.A. Co., CA. with her
30 yr. old husband, Riley Wyatt, b. in TN., working as a fireman on the Railroad.
7 yr. old son, Oscar D. (Douglas) Wyatt, b. in TX.
6 yr. old son, Homer Wyatt, b. in TX.
and 9 mth. old daughter, Louisa Wyatt, b. in TX.
This was a first marriage for both. They had been married 9 years. Millie had had 4 children, only 3 of whom were still alive by the time of this census.
Riley's father was b. in TX. and his mother in NE. and Millie's parents were both b. in TX.

By Sept. 13, 1918, James Riley Wyatt, b. Feb. 19, 1879, listed his permanent address as: general delivery, Nitro, West Virginia. He was working as a carpenter. His nearest relative was Mildred Wyatt. Riley was described in his WWI draft registration card as tall and slender, with brown eyes and dark hair. *By 1920, he was living back in Los Angeles in a boarding house, was working in construction as a carpenter and was divorced.
