He was born March 12, 1943, to Charles D. Briggs Sr. and Shirley D. (Huggins) Briggs. He was preceded in death by both parents and his sister, Janet Wallick. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marna J. (Bowles) Briggs; brothers, James Briggs, William Briggs and Judson Briggs; children Tony Briggs, Penny Jordan (and Bobby) and honorary son, Greg Friedmeyer; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He served 28 years in the U.S. Air Force before retiring. He was active in the American Legion and 40/8 everywhere he lived.
The family will be having a memorial service at noon Wednesday, July 20, at the American Legion in Abingdon, Ill., with his burial to follow at Rock Island National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation.
