21 April 1959 - MILLERSBURG - Martin V. Oswald, 76, of S. Clay St. died Monday in Pomerene Hospital here.

Born near Winesburg, he was a son of the late Emanuel and Lydia Helmuth Oswald. He was married Jan 18, 1909, to Bessie M. Bender, who survives. A retired farmer, he served as night clerk in the Millersburg Hotel for the past nine years. He was a member of the Mennonite Church of Martins Creek and attended the Millersburg Mennonite Church.

Surviving in addition to his widow are a son and three daughters, Corliss Oswald, Mrs. Virgil (Mildred) Miller and Mrs. Abram (Mary) Mast of Millersburg, and Mrs. Carl (Dorothy) Mumaw of Wooster; six brothers and two sisters, Harvey of Hartville, Ben of Goshen, Ind., Walter of Topeka, Ind., Sanford of New Bedford, Oren of Van Nuyes, Calif., Levi of Apple Creek, Mrs. Lee (Priscilla) Miller of Charm and Mrs. Perry (Lydia) Hostetler of Rd 4, Millersburg; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers.

Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Elliott-Hartline Funeral Home here and at 2:30 p.m. in the Martins Creek Mennonite Church with Rev. John C. King, Rev. Roman Stutzman and Rev. Edward Stoltzfus officiating. Burial will be in the Martins Creek Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday afternoon and evening at the funeral home and after 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the church. ~The Daily Reporter, Dover OH
