Martha Mayfield Beaubien, 81, formerly of Silver City, entered eternal rest Friday afternoon in University Terrace Good Samaritan Village in Las Cruces. She was born March 20, 1909 in Mississippi and moved with her family to Las Cruces in 1920, where she lived until early in 1940. In the same year, along with her husband, Kenneth, and son, Gale, she moved to Phoenix, where she retired after 30 years from the position of comptroller for the Arizona Department of Education. In 1975 she moved to Silver City, where she resided until 1988. There she was active in the First United Methodist Church, PEO Sisterhood, the garden club and other civic activities. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 3 in Baca's Hillcrest Funeral Chapels in Silver City with the Rev. Gorton Smith, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Concluding services will follow in Memory Lane Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest in the family plot. Survivors include three sisters, Wylton Vermillion, Alyce Lee Cox and LaVerne Guice, all of Las Cruces; a brother, John Knox Mayfield of Taylorsville, Miss.; and three grandchildren, Brad Beaubien of Mesa, Ariz., Kim Morrison of Albuquerque and Sgt. Scott Beaubien of Fort Eustis, Va. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Beaubien's husband, Kenneth, and son, Dr. Gale Beaubien of Silver City, preceded her. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to New Mexico Boys Ranch, Boys Ranch, N.M. 87002-9989. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Baca's Mission Funeral Chapel in Las Cruces.
