Ron had a great personality, being blessed with the ability of always finding a way to make you laugh. That was a skill he used a lot during his time as a waiter at Parker's Barbecue in Greenville, North Carolina. From standing on tables and singing "Happy Birthday" while banging on a tray, to unbuttoning your shirt collar with the quick flick on a hand, Ron kept his co-workers smiling. After work hours, he would keep the fun going when we met as a group at the movie theater or bowling alley. I have fond memories of him "Walking it Out" while bowling as the song blared on the radio. Onlookers that did not know Ron personally would even begin laughing.
Ron was a hard-worker and rarely let anything prevent him from working. When he broke his arm, he continued to show up to work and served trays with one hand.
In late 2009, Ron moved to Fredericksburg, Virginia, where he secured a job as a car salesman. Later that year, in the early morning hours of November 26 - Thanksgiving Day - Ron died in a single-car accident, while on the way to his father's house in Walstonburg, North Carolina.
Ron was a die-hard Redskins fan and at his wake, a Redskins jersey adorned the stand his picture sat on.
