William Joseph Chapman, 86, of Huntington, WV, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2005 in St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born November 18, 1918 in Huntington, WV, a son of the late Burl Alfred Chapman and Hattie Lambert Finegar.

He was also preceded in death by
his wife of 66 years, Alice Conard Chapman;
a brother, Donald Chapman;
two sisters, Louise Adkins and Rose Broncho.

He was a retired shop foreman for Central Glass Company and was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of VFW Post 9738, whose members will conduct Military Graveside Rites and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades, Guyandotte Church of Christ in Huntington, and Southside Christian Church in Fort Pierce, FL.

Survivors include
a son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Sharon Reed Chapman of Port St. Lucie, FL;
a sister, Leatha Lyons, of Tucson, AZ;
three brothers, John Chapman of Huntington and Charles and Floyd Chapman of Massillon, OH;
three grandchildren, Mark Chapman of Richmond, VA, Mrs. Jennifer Nelson of Fallbrooke, CA and Gregory Chapman of Bealeton, VA;
three great grandchildren, Cole and Peri Nelson and Alexis Chapman.

Funeral service was at White Chapel Mausoleum, Barboursville, WV. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
