Fern was united in marriage on February 22, 1919 to Clara L. Davids in Charlotte, Michigan.

In Feb. 1922, F.A. opened a jewelry store in Portland. He had previously been a successful jeweler in Detroit. He and his wife resided on Bridge St in Portland.

Portland Observer, September 27, 1942: F. A. Wheeler, who has been in the jewelry business in Portland since February, 1922, will leave this weekend to take up duties in the U. S. Navy, in which he served in World War I.
