JACKSON, JOHN T.--John Jackson's father was John Jackson, born in Boonville in 1830, and died October 9, 1857. His mother, Harriet Pitcher, was born in Boonville February 13, 1832, and they were married February 24, 1852; they had two sons;

Roscoe N., born July 7, 1856, and John S., born November 8, 1857.

Roscoe N. Jackson married Minnie Withington of Adams, and is now a physician in Faribault, Minn.

ROSCOE NEELY JACKSON, born July 7, 1856, at Boonville, Oneida Co., N. Y.; son of John and Harriet (Pitcher) Jackson, both born at Boonville. Educated at Boonville Academy, Antwerp Seminary, and Hungerford Collegiate Institute.

DR. ROSCOE N. JACKSON, of Spokane, is president of the Fortune Mining and Smelting Company, whose properties are located in Kittitas and Chelan counties, Washington. The valuable mines owned by this company are fully described in the portion of this volume devoted to the resources of
Kittitas county.

Dr. Jackson is a native of Boonville, New York, born in 1856. His ancestors were Scotch-Irish and came to this country before the Revolutionary war; "Old Hickory" was one of the family. The doctor obtained his medical education in New York City, graduating in 1880. For twenty years, he had an extensive practice in New York and Minnesota, but for the last three years has devoted his time to the Fortune and to other mining interests, including the Gilt Edge mine, of which he is manager. Dr Jackson is a man of method and energy, who believes in seeing things go, and is doing all in his power for the company he represents.

In 1871, he came to Illinois, entering Illinois Industrial University at Champaign. He graduated in 1876.

He first studied law with George W. Gere, of Champaign and then attended Cincinnatti Law School, from which he graduated in 1879.

In May 1885, Mr. Gill was appointed attorney for Chandler & Co., the mortgage bankers, but still continues his general practice of law.
