Charlotte was the 4th of eight children born to Abraham and Barbara Elizabeth (Crawer) Dillenbeck. Her siblings, Catherine, Noah, Jeremiah, Willard, Myron, Martha and Sandusky. In the 1840 and 1850 census records, the family was living in LeRay, Jefferson County, New York.
At some point between 1850 and about 1856, the family moved to Henry County, Illinois.
Charlotte married Ora Austin Bills, on Jan. 27, 1857 in Edford Township, Henry County, Illinois. They have three children, George Alfonzo, Clarence Myron and Carrie Isadore.
Ora died in 1870, and in 1902, Charlotte married Marcus Taft Houghton and they lived in Geneseo until her death.
