Albert E. Lister, 92, 1167 Gill Street, Watertown, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at his residence surrounded by his family and under the care of Hospice.
Albert was born September 3, 1919 in Deferiet, NY, a son to George and Mabel Birrell Lister. Following graduation from Watertown High School, he served in the United States Army Aircorps.
Albert married Helen L. Forbes August 31, 1946, at Trinity Episcopal Church, Watertown. Mrs. Lister passed away June 29, 2008.
Mr. Lister began working for the Watertown Fire Department on July 1, 1947. After 33 years of service, he retired as Battalion Chief on December 28, 1980.
Albert was a member of American Legion Post 61. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going to his cottage at Point Peninsula.
Albert is survived by a son, Michael L. (Christine) Lister, Romulus, NY; 2 daughters, Patricia "Tina" (Bruce) Lynch, Watertown, Madeline "Sue" (Gary) Oatridge, Watertown; 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he is predeceased by 2 brothers, Howard and Harold Lister, and 3 sisters, Margaret, Helen, and Eleanor.
The funeral will be 11 am Saturday, October 22 at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home with Father Shane Lynch officiating. Burial will follow in the North Watertown Cemetery, Watertown. Calling hours are Friday, October 21, from 7 pm - 9 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to Hospice of Jefferson County, 425 Washington Street, Watertown, New York 13601.
