Mrs. Mary Stingel, 89, died Thursday at 11:30 p.m. in the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Adam Scott, 740 Orange st., following a two-year illness of complications. She had resided in the Scott home for the past 14 years.
She was born Feb. 18, 1861, at Farmerstown, O., a daughter of Christian and Mary Harmon Nirote. Her husband, Christian Stingel died 32 years ago.
She was a member of the Wesleyan Methodist church and the missionary society of the church.
Surviving besides Mrs. Scott are three other daughters, Mrs. Johnathan Kleinknecht of New Bedford, Mrs. Carolyn March of West Lafayette and Mrs. Mollie Boyd of Coshocton; two sons, Robert Stingel of Coshocton and Martin Stingel of Dover; one sister, Mrs. Flora Shafer of Baltic; 23 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. One son and two brothers are deceased.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3:30 p. m. in the Gibson and Bontrager funeral home, 647 Chestnut st. Rev. Donald E. Howard of the Wesleyan Methodist church will officiate and burial will be in South Lawn cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 p. m. today until time of service.
