LEXINGTON - Service for Ernest Edward Sharpe, 73, will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at Red Bank Baptist Church with the Rev. Butch Powell, Rev. W.M. "Bill" Kyzer and Rev. Harry Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday November 1, 2011, at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to a charity of one's choice . Pallbearers will be Clayton E Steele, Jasper R. Steele, Eric W. Sharpe, Thurman E. Owens Jr., Mark W. Snelgrove and Michael W. Sharpe.
Mr. Sharpe passed away Sunday, October 30, 2011. Born in Lexington, he was a son of the late Alvin Wyatt Sharpe Sr. and Bessie Mae Chalmers Sharpe. He was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church and had retired as a heavy equipment operator for the County of Lexington.
He is survived by a son, Carl Wyatt Sharpe, daughters, Sharon Sharpe Steele and Wanda Sharpe Smith (Odell), brother, Alvin Wyatt Sharpe Jr. (Yvonne), sister, Vera Sharpe Snelgrove (John), eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Ellen Mathias Sharpe, a son, Gary Ernest Sharpe, and a daughter, Phyllis Lisa Sharpe.
