Services for Mr. Grady U. Nichols will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Big Hammock Baptist Church, Leander with Reverends Ron Perry and B. G. Dyess officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery, under the direction Hixson Brothers, Alexandria.

Visitation will be Friday at Big Hammock Baptist Church from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday until service time.

Mr. Nichols, 90, of Leander passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Grace Home, CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, Alexandria.

He was a member of Big Hammock Baptist Church, Leander and also attended Fellowship United Methodist Church, Hineston. Mr. Nichols was a World War II veteran. During his working career he was a locomotive engineer, retiring after 36 years of service with Union Pacific Rail Road. He had also worked 10 years as a crop duster pilot. He was a resident of Plaquemine for 30 years, living his last 30 years in Leander.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Delia Golemon Nichols; brother, Gethren Nichols and son-in-law, George Worm.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Zelle Garrett Nichols; son, David Nichols and wife, Judy; daughter, Glenda Nichols Worm; step-daughters, Karol Edwards and husband, Buddy, Melisa Bromley and husband, Alan, and Regina Garrett; brothers, Oren Nichols and wife Mittie, Orvin "Bo" Nichols and wife Dottie; and sister-in-law Ruby Nichols, eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Alan Bromley, Darrin Goodwin, David Phagan, Larry Goodwin, James Erik Edwards, and Burley Vaughn.
