Dow Camden Given, for many years a citizen of Sutton, died Thursday of last week at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ivy Boggs, who resides on state rode No. 13 between Gassaway and Frametown. Mr. Given was born in Birch district, this county, on October 29, 1857, and lacked but two days of being 75 years of age. Coming to Sutton from Birch district about twenty years ago, for many years, he conducted a boarding house here. He was a genial, kind-hearted man, and had the friendship and respect of those who knew him. He was united in marriage October 19, 1876, with Miss Martha Jane Riffle, who, with these children, survives: Ward Given, of Widen; Wade Given, of Charleston; Johnnie and Lanty Given, of Gassaway; Emory Given, of Ivydale; Van Given, of Heaters; and Mrs. Ivy Boggs, at whose home he died.

Two children, Harry and Uriah Given, preceded him.

He was a sister of Mrs. J. A. Matheny and Mrs. Lydia Carte, of Herold.

Rev. W. E. Keenan conducted funeral services at the home of Mrs. Boggs last Friday afternoon and interment was made in Sutton cemetery.
