Martha, daughter of Abraham and Susan (Yoder) Jones, was born in Lagrange Co, Ind., near the Forks community, Jan 31, 1880; died Jan 5, 1950, at her home in Goshen, Ind, after a short illness; aged 69 y, 11 m, 5 d. Death was causes by a heart ailment.

In 1899 she graduated from the Topeka High School, one of a class of three graduates. After attending the normal school at Angola, Ind, she taught three years in the grade schools near her home.

On June 30, 1803, she was married to Harry Hartzler, who survives. Also surviving are 3 children (Malcolm, Goshen, Ind; Merle, Franklin, Ohio; and Margaret, of Goshen), 2 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters (Mrs Jesse Mast, Elkhart, Ind; and Bernice, Denver, Colo), and one brother (Clarence, Goshen).

They lived in Topeka ten years, Nappanee two years, and Goshen the remaining years.

As a young woman she joined the old Maple Grove Mennonite
Church, Topeka, Ind. At the time of her death she had been a member of the Eighth Street Mennonite Church, Goshen, for twenty-seven years.

Funeral services were conducted Jan 8 at the Eighth Street Church. Interment was made in the Maple Grove Cemetery, near Topeka.
