Those who knew him found him to be a kind, gentle, giving soul whose compassion for oth ers inspired many. He loved his wife and family greatly, and life will surely not be the same without him.
Employed all his working life of 44 years at B.F. Goodrich Company in Akron, Mr. Sullivan retired in 1986 as Vice President of Tire Supply & Distribution in charge of Tire Physical Distribution activities.
He was cited the "Distin guished Alumnus" by Kent State Business Faculty; received "Special Achievement Award" from Kent State Alumni, and "Distinguished Alumnus Award" from Cuyahoga Falls School System.
He had served as president of Kiwanis Club of Kent, Lt. Governor of Kiwanis Ohio District 20, and George F. Hixson Fellow in Kiwanis International. He also held past leadership positions in Boy Scouts, YMCA, United Fund, Red Cross, Cancer Society, Heart Association, and within his local church. Mr. Sullivan was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, and Order of the Purple Heart Veterans.
Survivors include his wife, Nadine (Hulbert); son, Chris (Jennifer) of Kent; grandchil dren; Jessica, Emily, Christo pher Jr., and John; nephews; John and Mike Drew; sisters, Kathy Spencer of Tallmadge, Edith Blake of Sarasota, Fla.; and stepmother, Lorena Sullivan of Tallmadge.
Calling hours will be held 6 to 9 P.M. Friday at the Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Cre matory in Kent. Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Satur day at the United Church of Christ of Kent, with Dr. Paul Ashby officiating. Burial will be in Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent. (Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, 330-673-5857.)
