Jerrold Kingston Perkins
Jerrold K. Perkins, a long-time resident of Avon Park, Fla., died on Nov. 22, 2005, at his home from complications of old age.
Jerrold was a well-known music teacher and choir director in Joplin until 1960, when he retired to Avon Park.
Jerrold was born in Rolla, Mo., on Feb. 28, 1910, but his family moved to Joplin when Jerrold was quite young. Jerrold graduated from Joplin Senior High and then attended Central College, graduating with a BS in music in 1933. He later completed an MS in music at Columbia University.

Jerrold was a talented musician, playing organ and piano as well as violin and viola. For over 20 years he was a public school music teacher in Joplin. He also directed the choir and played the organ at First Baptist Church in Joplin.
Jerrold will be cremated and his ashes will be buried in the Perkins burial plot in Joplin. No funeral service will be held because Jerrold said that as the organist for hundreds of funerals, he didn't want to attend one more!
No flowers please. If you wish, donate to your favorite charity or to Intermountain Therapy Animals, 4835 South Highland Drive ( No. 2125), Salt Lake City, Utah 84117.
