He spent his first six years in Wabash. In 1925, he moved with his parents to the farm north of Servia where he spent his earlier years helping his father and neighbors with the farming. He attended Servia School and graduated from Chester High School in 1937.
On February 7, 1942 he married Virginia R. Fleck.
George was a farmer all his life except for a few years testing cows for the DHIA. In 1984 he retired from farming to a small orchard south of Servia. In 1998 he and Virginia moved to Peabody Retirement Community.
He was a lifelong member of the New Hope (formerly Servia) United Church of Christ, holding many offices and becoming an ordained deacon. George was a member and past president of North Manchester Lions Club for over 55 years and was active in promoting and producing their fish fry. He was a member of the ABC for Wabash County.
