George was a farmer all his life except for a few years testing cows for the DHIA. In 1984 he retired from farming to a small orchard south of Servia. In 1998 he and Virginia moved to Peabody Retirement Community.
He was a lifelong member of the New Hope (formerly Servia) United Church of Christ, holding many offices and becoming an ordained deacon. George was a member and past president of North Manchester Lions Club for over 55 years and was active in promoting and producing their fish fry. He was a member of the ABC for Wabash County.
