Rowena Ritchie, age 71, of Dunreith, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2010 at her residence. She was born January 24, 1939 in Spiceland, Henry Co., IN, the daughter of Wesley Eugene and Viola Alice (Ratliff) Vaughn.
Rowena attended Knightstown Schools and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. She and her husband owned and operated Ritchie's Garage in Dunreith and Spiceland for many years. She was also employed at Jacquel Manufacturing in Knightstown.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth, whom she married on July 27, 1957; three children: Debbie Williams of Connersville, Alan (Angie) Ritchie of New Castle and Chelsie Ritchie of Dunreith; five grandchildren: Josh Williams of Knightstown, Aimee (Mark) Hayworth of Carthage, Kenny (Elizabeth) Ritchie of New Castle, Cameron (Victoria) Ritchie of Milton and Cody Ritchie of New Castle; four great grandchildren; three brothers: Eddie Vaughn of Lakeland, FL, Hershel (Irene) Vaughn of West Warrick, RI and Thomas (Jeanette) Vaughn of Cocoa, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Rosella Davis; and two brothers: Richard and Billy Vaughn.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 4, 2010 at Liberty Baptist Church in Dunreith with Reverend Tim Dice officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Dunreith Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Liberty Baptist Church.
