Henry A. Hanson, 88, of Whitefield NH, died January 10, 2009, at the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester NH. Mr. Hanson was born in Concord NH on May 9, 1920, the son of Lawrence C. and Mary (Cawley) Hanson. Raised in Concord, he was a 1938 graduate of Concord High School. He lived there most of his life, having worked for the A&P Store in Concord, then 13 years at the Cote Sunbeam Bakery in Manchester, and 22 years for Sears in Manchester, retiring in 1982 as merchant manager. He married Virginia (Robbins) Hanson on March 27, 1939. Henry and Virginia loved to travel and visited every state except Alaska. Upon Henry's retirement in 1982 they moved to Margate FL. They lived there until 1997, then moved back to the area to be with family due to Virginia's declining health. Henry also enjoyed playing bingo and cards.

Surviving family members include his daughter Nancy H. Desrochers and husband Bert of Maidstone Lake VT; grandchildren Michael Desrochers and wife Colleen of Newfields NH, Mark Desrochers and wife Sarah of Lancaster NH, and Lori Shearer and husband Doug of Lancaster; niece Robbin Grill and husband Alan of Boscowen NH; great-grandchildren Brianna, Lindsey, Steven, Travis, and Matthew.

He was predeceased by his wife Virginia on March 18, 2005.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, January 14, from 4 to 7 p.m., followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. Burial will be at a later date in Sumner Street Cemetery in Lancaster.
