The deceased was born in the state of Vermont and spent the earlier part of her life among the Green Mountains. Her maiden name was Wyman and she was one of a family of four sisters--only one of whom survives to hear the tidings of her death. In 1847 she was married to Charles Bailey with whom she went to New Hampshire until 1857, when they came west settling in Prescott. Here she resumed her eastern occupation and for years taught in the primary department of our public school. She had great aptness in her chosen line of work and many are the pleasant memories clustering around her school room associations. Pierce Co., Wi. Article originally written by Myrtle Bailey & Caroline Babbidge & documents their school years, many with Roxanna as a teacher. They refer to her as "Auntie Bailey".
