The DOB is incorrect on this stone. John P Hauser was enumerated as being born about 1844 on both the 1850 and 1860 census. We will presume the month/day is correct. There is also evidence (Census) that he was still alive in 1870

He enlisted in Company M, 6th Alabama Infantry on 1 March 1862 (for a period of 3 years). He was present at the Siege of Yorktown. He was discharged, invalid, in 10 June 1862. His company later became the 56th Partisan Rangers (after his discharge)
