Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her 3 siblings, Edward William Rath, who died in infancy; Bertha Anna Rath Murray; and Louis Henry Rath; and her granddaughter, Cindy Jean Borghardt Harris.
She is survived by their 5 children, Sylvia Ann Wulf Borghardt, and her husband, Carl Truman Borghardt of Topeka, Kansas; Barbara Jean Wulf Browne and her husband, James Edward Browne of Tiburon, California; Robert William Wulf and his wife, Glenna June Grother Wulf of Humboldt, Kansas; Ronald Henry Wulf, Humboldt, Kansas; and Richard Louis Wulf and his wife, Marsha Ellen Vance Wulf of Newport News, Virginia. Hazel and Bob Wulf's grandchildren are David Thruman Borghardt and Susan Ann Borghardt ; Hunter James Browne, Travis Kelley Browne, and Trevor Rath Browne; Bradley "Brad" Wulf; and his wife, Megan Marie Ellithorp Wulf; Brent William Wulf; Kristine Ellen Wulf O'Dette and her husband, Jonathan O'Dette; and Kathryn Louise Wulf.
Hazel was baptized on August 5, 1906, at St Peter's Lutheran Church, Humboldt, by Pastor J. W. Werling. Her sponsors were Dora Rath and Helene Sickmann. Hazel was confirmed in her Baptismal faith on May 25, 1919, at St. Peter"s by Rev. P. C. Kraus. Her confirmation verse was Genesis 15:1 "I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward."
Hazel lived in Humboldt her total life, and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1923 at the age of 16. She also graduated from the Emporia Business College. She was employed as a secretary for Monarch Cement Company for 10 years prior to her marriage.
She was a life long member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Humboldt. She served for several years as secretary for the voter's Assembly, and was a charter member of the Ladies Aid Society. She was a member of the Allen County Cancer Society for 30 years, served on the Humboldt Library Board, was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader, and was very active in the Parent Teacher Association. She was a charter member of the Hoe and Hope Club.
On August 12, 1934, she married Robert Wulf in Humboldt. He died October 21, 1983. Hazel was a loving wife, mother and a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, flowers, and was a very supportive "Humboldt Club" sports fan over the years
