Rev. Carl Vernon Taylor of Cuba, Missouri, formerly of Stanton, Missouri, was born on Thursday, March 21, 1929 in Schram City, Illinois to Roy Taylor and Delphia Garrison Taylor. He passed away at Cuba Manor on Friday, December 8, 2006 at the age of 77 years, 8 months and 17 days.Carl married Alice Brown on April 15, 1950 at Third Baptist Church in St. Louis, Missouri. He worked as a painter for many years. He pastured several churches in Missouri. Those in the area were Collins Mission in St. James, Missouri, Mt. Olive in Leasburg, Missouri, Baptist Chapel Mission, Steelville and Fairview Baptist Church, Butts, Missouri.After retirement he became a member of First Baptist Church, Stanton, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Alice; brother, Kenneth Taylor and sister, Mary Alice Back. He is survived by a brother, James Allen Taylor and wife Shirley of Georgia; half sister, Karen Back Simmons and husband Gary and half brother, John Lee Back, all of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.Visitation was Monday, December 11, 2006 from 6-8 p.m. at the Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.Funeral services were Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Harry Pryor officiating.Music selections were, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," "When the Roll is Called Up Yonder," and "When we all Get to Heaven," sung by Helen Carden and Peggy Hamann. Burial was in the Brown Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri with pallbearers, John Back, Gary Simmons, Bob Brown, Dave Cornick, Roger Brown and Ed Worley.
