81 years old at time of death, Miss Eliza Lindsay was a daughter of Capt. Robert Goodloe and Marianna Lindsay. (Her father was the first commanding officer of the Guilford Guards of the CSA). Was a niece of Mrs. John Motley Morehead, and of Jeduthan and Jesse Lindsay, early Greensboro businessmen. Eliza, who was called Lizzie, graduated at the age of 19 from Edgeworth Seminary in Greensboro, and was a first grade teacher at the first graded school in Greensboro ---the old Lindsay Street School. Was a member of the First Presbyterian Church since childhood---president of Guilford Chapter of United Daughters of the Confederacy, and Guilford Battle Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution. She made her home at 215 South Green St. at the time of her death.
