ALICE MAUDE (STIPP) ARTHUR
Mrs. Alice Maude Arthur, beloved wife of the Rev. E. J. Arthur, pastor of the East Kenton Methodist Episcopal charge, died at the family home in Kenton, March 21, following an illness of more than twelve months.
She was the daughter of William and Mary Stipp, and was born near Marathon, Clermont County, June 19, 1868.
On March 13, 1887, she was united in marriage to Esdras J. Arthur, of Eastwood, Brown County, and to this union were born five children - three sons and two daughters.
Mrs. Arthur was a devout member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and her Christian spirit and ever-willing helpfulness to members of not only churches to which her husband ministered, but to any in need, had won for her a host of friends. Mrs. Arthur had been a resident of Kenton for a year and a half.
She leaves to mourn their loss her husband, the Rev. E. J. Arthur; a daughter, Mary, and son, Russell, at home; two other sons - W. C. Arthur, Sunday-school superintendent of the Cowden Memorial United Brethren Church, Dayton, and the Rev. E. L. Arthur, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church, Sherwood, and a daughter, Mrs. Ivan L. Cordrey, Dayton; two sisters - Mrs. H. P. Reddick and Mrs. Nana Price, Williamsburg; one brother, Enoch Stipp, Mt. Orab.
Funeral services were held from the First Methodist Church at Kenton, March 24, in charge of Dr. Wm. McK. Brackney, of Delaware, assisted by Dr. D. H. Bailey, the Rev. E. J. Kuenzler, the Rev. H. F. Zierer, and the Rev. L. C. Radley. Interment in Grove Cemetery, Kenton.
