Robert Lee was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He was a larger than life character in Rogers,Ky.
Bob was a master storyteller.I can still see him at Bob Bryant's store drinking an Ale 8, telling a tall tale.He could always draw a crowd and entertain them.

Bob was the baby of the family and a boy after a succession of girls. They spoiled him rotten and would sit him up and tell him to make up stories to make the time go faster as they did farm work.He was good at it and his story telling abilities served him well throughout life.I can still remember at reunions or events people would always ask him to tell them a story about when such and such did that or when this or that would happen. He'd pull up a chair, a grin on his face and usually a wad of chew in his jaw and a funny tale would get told.

Bob usually had an entourage of some sort. There was always someone who needed a place to stay or a little work or maybe just some attention and they would hang around him for a bit.He took in strays. I guess you could say,it's a family trait. His mom did it as well as his brother Omer.He loved people.Now. that's not to say he didn't have his fair share of problems with them, but he was tender toward those that had less in life.

He was an educated man.He worked many jobs over his life span.He loved basketball. He was a pretty good player in high school.I think his favorite most rewarding job he ever had was being a coach for the Wolfe County Wolves. He had the opportunity to coach them during different periods of his life.I think being a coach made him the happiest. He was well known in Eastern Ky for his knowledge of basketball and coaching.

I think the last job Bob had in the education system was being a teacher at the alternative school in Wolfe County. He excelled at this position and had a real gift for working with children who didn't fit in in the regular classroom.

In his last years he and his wife Wanda Faye bought a store over in Hazel Green,Ky.Being the personable sort who he always was, he was a success at this endeavor. His health declined and he fought a courageous battle with cancer. He spent his last days where his heart was at on the farm at Rogers,Ky.

In my mind I can still see Bob on his tractor.I can see him with his cows in the barn.I can see him in my mamaw Laura Jane's kitchen in the morning time with sunlight streaming in, eating fried chicken for breakfast, sawmill gravy and tomatoes.I see him with a smile.I never saw my Uncle Bob have too many bad days.He enjoyed life.He had a good time most every where he went.Mostly though he lived life on his own terms the good, bad and the ugly, and if I could sum his life up I would say Bob you were never boring and you just can't beat that.Rest in Peace.I'm sure where ever your hanging your hat tonight it's a more interesting place because your there. We love you Bob.
