FUNERAL OF L. E. PAINTER
News of the death of L. E. Painter at Ivanhoe last Wednesday night was not received by the Southwest Times in time for publication in Friday's issue. The following obituary was taken from the Southwest Virginia Enterprise of Wytheville, dated July 13.
L. E. Painier passed away Wednesday night at 11 o'clock at his home at Ivanhoe, after an illness of several weeks. The deceased was born and reared at Ivanhoe and was 81 years of age.
He is survived by his wife and two sons: Mr. C. H. Painter, of Pulaski; Mr. M. T. Painter, of Ivanhoe; four brothers and one sister: Mr. J. D. Painter, of Wytheville; Mr. T. C. Painter, of Marion, Mr. H. M. Painter, of Ivanhoe; Mr. E. G. Painter and Miss Sallie Painter, of Lewisburg West Virginia.
The funeral service was held this morning at 10 o'clock from Forest church at Ivanhoe and the interment followed in the nearby cemetery. Mr. Painter had been a consistent member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South for several years and has a wide circle of relatives and friends who are grieved at his death.
He was a loyal Confederate Soldier and served the in Company D. Forty-fifth Virginia Infantry.
Among Pulaskians attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. C.H. Painter and daughter, Frances, Dr. and Mrs. G. G. Painter, Mrs. Clarence Painter. Mrs. T. E. Painter and Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Miller.
