He attended Pendleton schools, graduating from Pendleton High School in 1946. Bob attended Purdue University from 1947-49, marrying Nancy Reighard in 1949. Bob served on the Fall Creek Advisory Board at one time and was a past president of Pendleton Kiwanis. He had been a member of Madison Masonic Lodge #44 F. &. Bob was employed by Producers Marketing Association at the Indianapolis Stockyards in 1949 and later at Emge Meat Packing Company in Anderson as a livestock buyer. He retired in 1983.

Above and beyond all else, Bob was a family man. He loved his three daughters, Diana (husband, Don) Garner of Elwood, Mary (husband, Mike) Ackerman of Spencer, and Rachel (husband, David) Wilcox of Greentown, and Nancy, his wife of 62 years with all his being; all survive him. His seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren were loved and adored. They include Merrilee (husband, Matthew) Lee of Ft. Atkinson, WI; John (wife, Leah) Garner of West Lafayette; Matt Ackerman (friend, Veronica) of Indianapolis; Adam Ackerman (friend, Elizabeth) of Spencer; Daniel (wife, Megan) Wilcox of Kempton; Joseph Wilcox and Emily Wilcox of Greentown, The "greats" include Daniel Garner and Anna Marie Garner of West Lafayette. Bob is also survived by his brother, Steven Wynant of Pendleton.

Bob loved traveling with his wife, Nancy, creating works of stained glass art, sailing, and reading historical nonfiction, closing the final page of his last book Monday night.

Bob was a great story teller and loved regaling family and friends with tall tales and jokes, but he was also the embodiment of old fashioned work ethic.
