DR. PAUL GUTTMAN (d. 1941)

Dr. Paul Guttmann (sic), 79, a practicing physician at Kellnersvile for over
40 years, died suddenly of a heart attack late last night while playing a game
of cards with relatives and friends in this city.
Dr. Guttmann came to Manitowoc from his Kellnersville office early last evening
to take dinner here. He had been active in his practice during the day. After
dinner he was prevailed on to remain over for an evening of cards and was
stricken a few hours later.
Funeral arrangements are delayed awaiting word from a son, Dr. L. P. Guttmann
of Corpus Christi, Tex., who is expected to come here for the services.
Dr. Guttmann spent practically his entire life in this county. He was born in
this city in 1861 a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman Guttmann. After attending
city schools, he enrolled in Marquette university, Milwaukee, where he pursued a
medical course. After he was graduated there he entered Rush Medical college in
Chicago where he completed his medical studies and early in 1900 returned to this
county.
He opened an office in the village of Kellnersville, where he continued to practice.
He married Miss Hattie Werner. His wife died several years ago. He was a member of
the State and County medical societies.
Survivors are two sons, Dr. Guttmann of Texas, and Robert A. Guttmann of this city;
two brothers, William and Albert, of this city; sister, Mrs. Gustave Alter of this
city; and a grandson, Paul Guttmann of Corpus Christi.
The body is at the Shimek and Schwartz funeral home. Funeral plans will be announced
