John Leslie Montrose Jr., 79, our loving husband, father and grandfather passed away September 9, 2009 in Provo, UT. He was born in Logan, UT on November 29, 1929 to John Leslie Montrose and Agnes Allister Roberts.

As a young man, John spent many happy hours riding horses with his father in Logan Canyon. He was an excellent athlete and played on the Logan High School football and baseball teams.

John joined the Navy in 1948 for one year and upon his release he attended Utah State Agriculture College and graduated in three years. Prior to graduation, John married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Celestia Pearl Vaughn in the Logan LDS temple.

After college, John joined the U. S. Army and spent the next twenty-one years in uniform which included; ten years in Europe and two tours to Vietnam.

After retiring from military service, John and his family moved to Utah where he attended Utah Valley College and earned two associate degrees. In 1978, John worked as the Executive Director of Stevens-Henager Business College in Provo, UT.

John and Celestia served several missions for the LDS church; one in Dublin, Ireland another in the Salt Lake Family History mission and the final as part-time missionaries at Brigham Young University. They also served as temple workers for a period of time.

John is survived by his wife Celestia, three sons and two daughters. Other surviving family include; 14 grand-children, 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

September 13, 2009: Viewing at Berg Funeral Home in Orem from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

September 14, 2009: Funeral services at Orem Stake Center, 80 S. 280 East, Orem. Friends may call one hour prior to services. Graveside services in the Logan, UT cemetery, Monday, 2:30 p.m. Military honors will be accorded.
