One time Bernard sent money to his brother in Ireland to come to America, but the brother wrote back that their father was ill, and he didn't want to leave right then. Sometime later, after the father's death, he again sent the brother money to come. He never heard from him again. He didn't know whether he never got the money, or whether he came, and America was so big, he didn't find him, or what happened. According to the 1860 cenus, Bernard and Catherine were living in Wayne Co. An Edward Scott age 45 and Thomas Scott age 21 were also living with them. Catherine was only 31 at that time, so I'm not sure if Edward was her brother.
