Elizabeth Beale is the daughter of George N. Beale and Elizabeth Brown Wheeler. She was born about 1852 in Washington, D.C. She married David Porter Heap between 1870 and 1880. The 1880 census shows her living in Buffalo, Erie County, New York, with David and their son, David Porter Heap Jr. In 1895, their son died in Portland, Maine, apparently from a severe illness.
The 1900 census shows David Porter Heap Sr., as widowed in Richmond County, New York. The Pasadena, Los Angeles County, California, city directories show him living there. The 1910 census also shows him in Pasadena with second wife Josephine.
