Son of W. A. Kerr and A. R. Kerr, per Sam Ervin, Samuel was married, on 21 Dec. 1911, to Margaret "Maggie" Bell (1864-1949), a daughter of Levi Bell (1812-1893) and his second wife Mary Jane Van Pelt (1831-1905).

My research: Samuel Pressly Kerr was the fourth child, and first son of William Alexander Kerr (1835-1917) and Annis Rebecca Lawson (1845-1902), who were married in December 1869. William A. Kerr was a Captain in the Confederate Army, a school teacher, and a farmer. He was a son of Gilbreth Franklin Falls Kerr (1802-1882) and Elizabeth Torrentine (1807-1891) of Falls Town, Iredell Co. Annis R. Lawson was a daughter of Rufus Eleazer Lawson (1820-1901) and Elvinia Parker (1820-1900), also of Falls Town, Iredell Co.
