Mr. Eddie Deskins, age 54, of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Thursday (October 4, 2012) in Honaker, Virginia. Born November 1, 1957 in Richlands, Virginia, he was a son of Billy Joe Deskins of Drill, Virginia and the late, Grace Fuller Deskins. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a member of Duty Freewill Baptist Church. He was a 1976 graduate of Honaker High School and had been employed as a coal miner.
Survivors, in addition to his father, include his wife, Margaret Deskins; two sons, Edward Dean Deskins, Jr. and wife, Pat of Bristol, Tennessee and Nathaniel Damron of Honaker, Virginia; one daughter, Courtney Stallard and husband, Brett of Haysi, Virginia; sisters, Carolyn Deskins of Drill, Virginia and Patricia Lester and husband, Larry of Honaker, Virginia; four brothers, Billy Joe Deskins, Jr. and wife, Sherry of Prosperity, South Carolina, Darryl Wayne Deskins of Honaker, Virginia, Larry Lynn Deskins and wife, Donna and Garry Lee Deskins and wife, Jennifer both of Drill, Virginia; one grandson, Dalton Deskins of Bristol, Virginia; two granddaughters, Emma Yates and Alexis Stallard both of Haysi, Virginia; step-grandsins, Gavin of Haysi, Virginia; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Sunday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Sullivan and Rev. Wayne Harrison officiating. Interment will follow in the Stone Mountain Cemetery at Honaker, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be nephews, James Ball, Buck Vance and Tim Keene.
Members of Duty Freewill Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
