She got her degree from Harris Teachers College in St. Louis.
She married Vernon Louis Meyer in 1939. She had first met him at Roosevelt High School (St. Louis), her sophomore year, when Vernon was transferred there after his own high school was destroyed by a 1927 tornado.
She and Vernon had two daughters.
In the 1970's, she was the principal of a Special Needs School in Toledo, Ohio, and worked for what was then called The Lucas County Board of Mental Retardation.
She passed away on October 22, 1996 - 15 years to the day after her husband.
