Donald D. Ramsey, age 88, of Huntington, died at 12:46 p.m. Thursday (October 18, 2012), at Parkview Huntington Hospital.

The family will receive friends from 3 - 7 p.m. Monday (October 22, 2012), with Masonic services following at 7 p.m, at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday (October 23, 2012), at Bailey-Love Mortuary, Huntington, with Rev. Ray Scribner officiating.

Burial will take place at the Lancaster Cemetery, Huntington County with V.F.W Post #2689 performing military graveside services.

Those desiring to, may make memorial contributions to Shiners Hospital for Crippled Children or Huntington Fire Department Scholarship Fund in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana.

Don was born on January 9, 1924, in Huntington, the son of Seal and Virginia (Walker) Ramsey. He married Marjory L. Pearson on October 18, 1960 in Huntington.

He was a veteran of World War II serving with the United States Navy from 1941-1945 as a Gunners Mate 2nd Class. Don went on to serve during the Korean War as Corporal with the United States Army.

Don retired in 1964 from the Huntington Fire Department. He also worked for Memcor for 16 years in the maintenance department. Don spent several of his retirement years working with Bailey-Love Mortuary.

He was a member of the Huntington Church of the Brethren. Don was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post #2689 and American Legion Post #7 both in Huntington. He was a member and received his 50 year pin from Amity Masonic Lodge F&AM #483, and the Huntington County Hapzim, Scottish Rite Valley of Fort Wayne, Mizpah Temple of Fort Wayne, Order of Eastern Star Floral Chapter #75 of Huntington, and the former Exchange Club. He served as past President and Secretary of the Huntington Shrine Club and past President of the Huntington Scottish Rite Club. Don was a past secretary of the Starlight Dancers and loved to travel with his wife. He volunteered at the Huntington Hospital and drove for the Shiner's Children's Hospital taking children to Chicago for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years - Marjory L. Ramsey of Huntington; two daughters - Rebara (Leonard) Thorpe of Madison and Cheri (Kenneth) Eckert of Huntington; one stepson - Robert D. (Connie) Ickes of Xenia, Ohio; two sisters - Nedra Hoover of Bowling Green Kentucky and Vicky (Phillip) Kessinger of Bowling Green, Kentucky; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren.

His parents - Seal Ramsey and Virginia Powell, two brothers– Carl E. Ramsey, Orville L. Ramsey and sisters - Patricia VanDine and Peg Baskett preceded him in death.
