On April 11, 1900, he was united in marriage to Sadie May McBride. To this union three children were born: Mary G., Leona, and Gwinn. Harry, as he was known, always had an active interest in his community and its civic welfare. His favorite sport was baseball in which he participated actively for years, playing on the Hubbell teams in many surrounding towns.
As a young man he became a devoted member of the Hubbell Presbyterian Church. He became an Elder as was his father and maintained active service for 50 years, serving as Superintendent of the Sunday School, teacher of a young peoples class and in many other ways. When the Hubbell Presbyterian Church was disbanded Harry was influential in the decision of the Presbytery to allow the remaining funds to stay in Hubbell for the improvements of the Methodist Church. Harry then served in the Methodist Church as long as he was able.
He passed away on Nov. 4, 1958, at the age of 84 years at his home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sadie, one daughter, Leona, and one grandson, Elvin Clark, four sisters and two brothers. He is survived by two children: Mrs. Mary Clark of Hastings, and Gwinn of Hubbell; six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and many relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 7, from the Methodist Church, Hubbell, Rev. Duane Hutchinson officiating. A duet, Mrs. Lawrence Eickman and G.D. Van Cleef, sang accompanied by Mrs. David Hirons. Pallbearers were Ray Graham, Jesse Graham, Wayne Graham, Reuben Cossart, Orville Childs and Willis Davenport. Interment was made in Ida Cemetery, Munden, Kansas.
